Happy Friday Celebration with Paramore!

It's Friday. Which means one thing...I have to work tomorrow. Ugh. My company asked for volunteers this weekend and when enough people didn't volunteer, they made us. Haha. So I'll be working. But I'll just be over here pretending that I can relax tomorrow and sip margaritas. I love the lyrics to this song so I wanted to share it. "Ain't it fun? Living in the real world?" "Don't go crying to your mama. Cause you're on your own in the real world."     Here's to the weekend,[...]

Happy Book Birthday to The Bleeding Heart by Amy Giuffrida

A woman who I greatly admire recently put out her debut novel. It's called The Bleeding Heart. Not only is the cover gorgeous but I'm madly in love with this book's concept. Check it out! Brooklyn is a talented artist with an obsession for blood; one that she satiates at her uncle’s tattoo shop. It’s here at The Bleeding Heart that Brooklyn practices the art of dispensing pain onto others. Yet, nothing can dull the desire running through her veins, especially since the man she really wants to torture rots in jail for murder. When Daniel comes into her lif[...]

I'd heard of author Laura Lee before because she's very accomplished and well-versed in publishing. She's published a plethora of books with publishers like Harper Collins, Reader's Digest, Lyons Press, Running Press, etc. I knew her name from her non-fiction work. But what I didn't know what that she had branched out. She's been writing a ton of different things, which now include fiction novels. There's the book, "Angel", in which a minister sees an angel in his church and thus sets off a series of events and causes him to examine his beliefs. Love the concep[...]

I've thought a lot about success lately. HowΒ it affects us as writers and how it affects us on our writing journey. First, let's start with the definition of success. According to the dictionary, success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.     What I love most about this definition its simplicity. It's so mindnumbingly simple. You set a goal. You accomplish it. Boom, you're successful. But I've noticed as writers, it's not always that easy, is it? We compare ourselves to others. We base our success on other people's success. And when[...]

Waiting on Wednesday: Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty

I practically fainted when I heard about this book. I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, so I was beyond excited to hear about a YA novel coming to a bookshelf near you! Have you heard of an upcoming YA book called Lock & Mori? Well. Get ready. Check out Lock & Mori In modern-day London, two brilliant high school students, one Sherlock Holmes and a Miss James "Mori" Moriarty, meet. A murder will bring them together. The truth very well might drive them apart. Before they were mortal enemies, they were much more. FACT: Someone has been murdered in London[...]
